The Pittsburgh MOB Directory is an ongoing effort to collect information on all of the mom-owned businesses in the city. It is my hope that this project will inspire us all to support the hard work of fellow Pittsburgh mothers!

Freelance writer and editor with 10 years experience wrangling words
I am a zesty, type-A recovering rugby player based in Pittsburgh, PA, where I wrangle words for a living. I've researched everything from cycling abandoned superhighways to bread baking, with equal enthusiasm. My work, covering anything from green home renovations to cupcake contests to urban coyotes, has appeared in Bust, Parents, and is forthcoming in Psychology Today. I blog regularly for A Mother's Boutique at Mommy News and Views.
Denise LaRosa is a wife, mother of 2 daughters, freelance writer, blogger, and editor/contributor with Urban Media Today. A former educator in the Pittsburgh region, Denise is now a work from home Mom whose podcast "Mom Talk with Denise LaRosa" is set to debut in the late summer 2014. On her blog and podcast, Denise shares her joys and challenges on the journey of motherhood while also providing resources and lessons for all Moms! You can also hear her deliver commentary and daily news reports on 1550am WZUM - The Heart and Soul of Pittsburgh.
A mom's guide to kid-friendly resources in the South Hills of Pittsburgh!
As a stay-at-home mom to two young children, I'm always looking for new things to do with my kids. I started my blog with the hope of being a resource for other South Hills families, sharing our adventures and experiences around town. Some of my favorite posts have been about playgrounds in our area, indoor play spaces, and my feature posts of local mom-owned businesses. My favorite thing about writing my blog is that even though I've lived in the South Hills a long time, I keep finding new things around our community!
Writing, Editing, Social Media Coaching and School Workshops
Writing, editing, blogging & newsletters. E-book production and creative promotions. Social media coaching for businesses and brands. Workshops in schools and daycare centers based on healthy eating and storytelling to solve problems.
A local blog dedicated to helping parents raise adventurous children and to supporting inspired mothers in the city of Pittsburgh.
I write stories, poetry and novels. I'm working on setting up my own blog site. I recently published a short novella on Amazon.com kindle eBooks. The story (as the author) is Pittsburgh based and I hope I have the patronage, support and encouragement of the Pittsburgh community to continue my career as a writer. Here's a link for the book. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J47HWGU.
Your feedback on the book is extremely valuable to me as this is my first publication. Hope you will all like it!
I'm a Pittsburgher for nearly 8 years. I have a 4 year old son and been a stay at home mom the entire time. These 4 years have been the best in my life. Watching a life take form, grow and blossom in front of your eyes has been an incredible gift and blessing. Before my son, I was a technologist working for over 18 years in the IT field. In all the hustle and bustle of corporate life, I had forgotten my real passion - writing. I credit my son for bringing the passion to the forefront.
