Overly’s Country Christmas

Overly’s Country Christmas is a nonprofit old-fashioned Christmas Village.  Sing Christmas carols around the bonfire, enjoy the model train display, take a horse drawn wagon/sleigh ride, shop, eat, and take pictures with Santa!

The Winter Festival of Lights at Oglebay Resort

This nationally-renowned holiday light display covers more than 300 acres over a six-mile drive throughout the resort.

Times: Thursdays-Sundays until 1opm and Fridays Saturdays until 11pm

Cost: A per car donation is requested and is valid for the entire festival season

The Western Pennsylvania Railroad Museum’s Holiday Train Display

Explore this magical holiday train display at this classic railroad museum in Gibsonia

Times: Fridays 6-9pm, Saturdays and Sundays 11-5pm

Kennywood’s Holiday Lights

Kennywood will transform into a winter wonderland of spectacular lights, family friendly rides, activities and seasonal food favorites.

Cost: $15.99 each, online or at Giant Eagle locations $13.99, or $24.99 for holiday pass. Free with a 2013 season pass. Amusement taxes apply.

An exclusive member event where children will see Santa, do arts and crafts, explore the Conservatory, and other festive activities.

Breakfast with Santa-saurus at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History

Dress your little ones up as dinosaurs and enjoy breakfast in the “Dinosaurs in Their Time” exhibit with Santa-saurus.  Then participate in a very special hands-on activity.

 Oakland Yuletide Tour

Enjoy a holiday tour of some of Oakland’s most beautiful buildings. Begins with a continental breakfast at the Pittsburgh Athletic Association. Next, there will be a guided tour through the Nationality Classrooms at the University of Pittsburgh’s Cathedral of Learning. Finally, tour Heinz Memorial Chapel and listen to an organ recital of Christmas music.  Participants will receive coupons to Oakland shops, restaurants and attractions.

Downtown Pittsburgh Holiday Events

Downtown Pittsburgh has a variety of events during the holiday seasons, especially on Saturdays.  On this particular day of the week, there are Free Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides from 11-8pm and a Fifth Avenue Place Free Holly Trolley from 11-5pm.  In addition, there are a variety of ongoing attractions including The Rink at PPG Place“Spirit of Giving Around the World” Exhibit in the Wintergarden at PPG Place, and The Pittsburgh Creche.


St. Paul’s Preschool Santa Express

A Polar-Express themed fundraiser for this preschool, there will be indoor train rides, hot cocoa bar and cookies, train bounce house, a balloon artist, Polar Express crafts and games, a miniature railroad display, a strolling magician, and face painting.

Gateway Clipper Santa Family Fun Cruise

Take a ride on the Gateway Clipper Fleet with Santa Claus and friends.  There will be DJ Dance Party and Santa has a special present for the kids!

Little Cup of Hope

A fundraiser to benefit “Flashes of Hope” photographing children with cancer and other life threatening illnesses at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.  Visit with Santa, drink hot cocoa, eat festive treats, make crafts, and participate in a toy raffled.  Children are invited to wear pajamas and slippers (and bring a pair of slippers to be donated to the Children’s Hospital).

Times: 2pm
