Kennywood’s Holiday Lights

Kennywood will transform into a winter wonderland of spectacular lights, family friendly rides, activities and seasonal food favorites.

Times: 5-9pm

Cost: $15.99 each, online or at Giant Eagle locations $13.99, or $24.99 for holiday pass. Free with a 2013 season pass. Amusement taxes apply.

Santa Trolley at the Pennyslvania Trolley Museum

Enjoy time with Santa on a caroling-filled trolley ride.  Also, back at the museum enjoy a complimentary cup of hot chocolate, do a holiday craft, check out the Lionel toy train display, and play with the Thomas and Chuggington playtables!

Times: 10am-5pm

Elf, the Broadway Musical

Watch the Broadway adaptation of the hilarious movie, Elf, about a young child who crawls into Santa’s bag and is brought to the North Pole where he is raised as an elf.  As a grown man, he learns the truth of his past and journeys back to New York City to meet his birth father.  See website for specific times and ticket prices.  The show is taking place at the Benedum Center downtown.

 

The Neapolitan Presepio at the Carnegie Museum of Art

Opening weekend of this handcrafted nativity scene in the Hall of Architecture at the Carnegie Museum of Art features lifelike figures and colorful details that recreate the Nativity within a vibrant panorama of 18th-century Italian village life. Also, there are several large festively decorated Christmas trees in the same space.

Times: Tuesday–Saturday: 10am-5pm, Thursday 10am-8pm, Sunday 12pm-5pm

The Winter Festival of Lights at Oglebay Resort

This nationally-renowned holiday light display covers more than 300 acres over a six-mile drive throughout the resort.

Times: Thursdays-Sundays until 1opm and Fridays Saturdays until 11pm

Cost: A per car donation is requested and is valid for the entire festival season

The Western Pennsylvania Railroad Museum’s Holiday Train Display

Explore this magical holiday train display at this classic railroad museum in Gibsonia

Times: Fridays 6-9pm, Saturdays and Sundays 11-5pm

Cost: $6/adult, $4 children under 12

Overly’s Country Christmas

Overly’s Country Christmas is a nonprofit old-fashioned Christmas Village.  Sing Christmas carols around the bonfire, enjoy the model train display, take a horse drawn wagon/sleigh ride, shop, eat, and take pictures with Santa!

Free Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides in Downtown Pittsburgh

Highwoods offers complimentary horse drawn carriage rides through Market Square.

Times: 11-8pm, arrive early!

Location: Departs from the Fourth Avenue side of the PPG Place Plaza

 

Fifth Avenue Place Free Holly Trolley

Ride this free trolley and take in all the Downtown has to offer during the holiday season! Hosted by Santa’s little helpers, trolleys circle downtown each weekend picking up at stops approximately every 15 minutes.

Times: 11am-5pm

Location: Stops at Fifth Avenue Place, The Rink at PPG Place, One Oxford Centre, Macy’s, and U.S. Steel Tower (Pittsburgh Crèche).

Gemini Children’s Theater “Sleeping Beauty Holiday”

Enjoy this original, interactive, holiday-themed production featuring Sleeping Beauty!

Gateway Clipper Santa Family Fun Cruise

Take a ride on the Gateway Clipper Fleet with Santa Claus and friends.  There will be DJ Dance Party and Santa has a special present for the kids!

33rd Annual My Macy’s Holiday Parade

Enjoy marching bands, colorful floats, national and local celebrities, and the arrival of Santa!

Cost: FREE!

Location:  starts at Liberty Technology Center, 2200 Liberty Ave., Strip, and proceeds to Grant Street, right onto Fifth Avenue, left onto Liberty Avenue, and then left onto Stanwix Street.
